About Us

The UF Eventing Team was founded in 2016, to operate under the RecSports Club at the University of Florida, titled UF Equestrian Club (UFEC). It’s first captains, Anna Moscovitz and Ted Britten-Kelly were voted in, along with team coach, Ashley Johnson. The team began at Ashland Equestrian in Ocala, FL. It operated under here for relatively eight years. Due to an increasing workload Ashley decided to step down as coach, and Michelle Mercier was voted in at the start of the Fall Semester in 2023 under new captains Lucy Walter and Janna Scholtz. The majority of the team now operates out of Mercier Equestrian in Reddick, FL (about a 30 minute drive from campus). Although UF Eventing has a designated coach, members are encouraged to train with whoever best suites their needs, and will still be welcomed to compete with our team. Competitions run through regular USEA sanctioned events that are designated Intercollegiate Challenges. Teams run alongside the established event and the general public competitors. Each team will consist of four riders, with the highest score dropped. Teams compete against each other for the best subscore amongst their members. The annual championships happens at the end of the year with teams from around the country.
